Version 1.0 · 7 tabs · Excel and Google Sheets · Free Lifetime Updates

Before you start

The one rule: yellow cells with blue text are yours to fill in. Gray cells calculate on their own and are locked, so you can't erase a formula by accident.
  1. Your download is a zip with two files. Double-click it to open it. Start with the one marked with examples to see how everything works, then use the blank one for your business.
  2. Open the file in Microsoft Excel. Using Google Sheets? Upload it to Google Drive, then open it with Google Sheets.
  3. Start on the Start Here tab. It has the same steps, right inside the file.
  4. The sample data is there so you can see how everything works. Type over it with your own when you're ready.

Here's how to set up your pools and products once, then get a dose card for any pool in seconds.

1Set up (one time, about 10 minutes)

  1. Open Settings. Check the target ranges for chlorine and salt pools.
  2. Open Products. Type your prices, and change the dose if your label says something different.
  3. Open Pools. Add each pool with its type and size, or its gallons.

2At the pool

  1. Open Dose. Pick the pool and type the test results.
  2. Read the Dashboard: what to add, how much, the cost and how to add it.

  • Dropdowns, colors, and every calculation work the same in Google Sheets.
  • On a phone, the Google Sheets and Excel apps work for quick changes. For setup and printing, a computer is easier.
  • Want to start fresh? Type over the yellow example cells. Don't delete rows, since other tabs may be reading them.

No. They're Estimated starting points. Follow the label, add in stages and retest.

Quick reference from the Start Here tab

Welcome

Every pool on your route needs the right dose, not a guess from the bucket. Pick the pool, type today's test results, and this calculator shows what to add, how much and what it costs, with notes on how to add it.

Where To Start

1

Open 'Settings'. Check the target ranges for chlorine and salt pools. Change them to match how you run your pools.

2

Open 'Products'. Type what you pay for each chemical. Change the dose if your product's label says something different.

3

Open 'Pools'. Add each pool on your route with its type and size, or the gallons if you know them.

4

At the pool, open 'Dose'. Pick the pool and type your test results. The doses fill in on their own.

5

The 'Dashboard' shows the dose card for that pool, ready to read on your phone.

Which Cells To Edit

Yellow cells with blue text are yours to fill in. Italic yellow cells marked (optional) can stay empty. Gray cells calculate on their own and are locked.

Need to change a formula? In Excel go to Review, then Unprotect Sheet. In Google Sheets use Data, then Protect sheets and ranges. No password needed.

What The Results Mean

Status: Low, In range or High, using the ranges on Settings for that pool type.

What to add and Amount: the product and the Estimated amount to bring the reading to your target.

Fresh water: calcium, stabilizer and salt only come down with fresh water. The share shown is how much water to drain and refill.

Chemical cost for this visit: amount × your price, for every dose added up.

How To Clear The Examples And Reuse It

Easiest: open the Blank file. Or select the yellow cells on Pools and Dose and press Delete. Keep your Settings and Products.

There are 100 pool rows. Retype the test results on Dose for each pool you visit.

Good To Know

Free chlorine vs stabilizer: stabilizer protects chlorine from the sun, but the more you have, the more free chlorine the pool needs.

pH vs alkalinity: alkalinity holds pH steady. High alkalinity makes pH keep rising, so fix alkalinity first when both are off.

Gallons: shape factors give an Estimated volume. If you know the real gallons, type them on Pools and they win.

Safety: never mix chemicals or add them to the same bucket. Add chemicals to water, never water to chemicals. Wear gloves and goggles.

Share box: the "Share with other EasyWorkTools tools" box on the Dashboard lists the numbers this file gives to or gets from the other Pool Service tools. Copy them by hand. The labels match exactly, so it's clear where each one goes.

Getting Updates

Every update is free. When a new version is ready we email you, and you can download it any time.

Moving to a new version: copy the yellow cells from each sheet into the same sheets of the new file.

Using Google Sheets? Upload this file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets (or File, then Import, then Upload). The math works the same.
