How It Works
Retype Pro, step by step.
From install to new fonts on every page in a few minutes. Nothing changes for your visitors until you press Apply.
1. Install and activate
In WordPress, go to Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin, and choose the Retype Pro zip. Activate it and you'll find it under Appearance, Retype Pro.
2. Scan your site
Press Scan. Retype Pro looks at your pages and measures the fonts and sizes your headings, body text, menus and buttons really use.
3. Pick a font style
Choose one of 12 font styles. Each one pairs a heading font with a body font and a size scale. You can swap fonts if you like.
4. Preview on every screen
Look at your own pages on desktop, laptop, tablet and phone. Nothing changes for visitors yet.
5. Run the readability check
Press Check. You get a score and plain advice for text that's too small or lines that run too long.
6. Add your license key and apply
Paste your license key from your receipt email or My Downloads, then press Apply. The new fonts go live from your own site.
7. Inspect anything by hand
On your live site, click any text to see which font and size it uses.
8. Undo, export and reuse
Undo goes back a step and History lists earlier versions. Export your settings to use them on another site.
Good to know
Will it break my theme?
No. Retype Pro never edits your theme's files. It works on top of them, so turning it off brings back your original fonts.
Does it work with my theme?
It's built to work with any theme, because it styles the text your pages actually show. We test it on Astra, GeneratePress, Kadence, Neve, Blocksy, OceanWP, Hello Elementor and the default WordPress themes, plus Elementor, Beaver Builder, the block editor and WooCommerce.
Does it load fonts from Google?
No. 24 font families come bundled with the plugin. About 40 more Google families can be downloaded once to your own site. Your visitors only ever load fonts from your site.
Will my logo change?
No. Logos and icons keep their own fonts, so your brand looks the way it should.
What sizes does it set?
Fluid sizes that grow and shrink smoothly between phone and desktop, so headings and body text fit desktop, laptop, tablet and phone.
Can I try it before it goes live?
Yes. Preview everything on your own pages first. Nothing changes for visitors until you press Apply.
What does the readability check look at?
Things like text that's too small on phones and lines that run too long to read comfortably. You get a score and plain advice for anything it finds.
Can I undo it?
Yes. Undo goes back one step, and History lists earlier versions you can return to.
Is it a subscription?
No. One payment, and you get every future version free, delivered right inside WordPress.
What do I need?
WordPress 6.2 or newer and PHP 7.4 or newer. That's nearly every host today.
Can I upgrade to more sites later?
Yes. In My Downloads, upgrade your key to 5 or unlimited sites and pay only the difference. You keep the same key.
Can I use the same fonts on another site?
Yes. Export your settings as a file and import it on the other site.
