Common questions
Is it exact?
No. It's an estimate. Real use depends on soil, fiber and how you apply it. Adjust coverage as you learn.
Quick reference from the Start Here tab
Welcome
Every gallon of prespray and rinse costs money, and running short on a job costs more. Add your chemicals once, then list the areas for a job: this calculator shows how much mix and concentrate you need, what it costs and how to mix each sprayer.
Where To Start
Open 'Settings'. Set your sprayer size, the extra for waste and the sales tax you pay.
Open 'Products'. Add each chemical with its price per gallon of concentrate, dilution and coverage.
Open 'Job'. Name the job and add a line for each area and product: square feet, product and passes.
Print the 'Mix Card' for the van.
Copy 'Chemical cost for this job' from the Dashboard into the Carpet Cleaning Quote Calculator.
Which Cells To Edit
Yellow cells with blue text are yours to fill in. Italic yellow cells marked (optional) can stay empty. Gray cells calculate on their own and are locked.
Need to change a formula? In Excel go to Review, then Unprotect Sheet. In Google Sheets use Data, then Protect sheets and ranges. No password needed.
What The Results Mean
Gallons of mix: square feet × passes ÷ coverage per gallon of mix.
Concentrate: gallons of mix × ounces of concentrate per gallon. The Mix Card adds your waste extra.
Cost: gallons of mix × cost per gallon of mix (concentrate price, dilution and sales tax).
Chemical cost per sq ft: job chemical cost ÷ the carpet area you type on the Dashboard.
How To Clear The Examples And Reuse It
Easiest: open the Blank file. Or select the yellow cells on the Job tab and press Delete. Keep your Products and Settings.
There are 40 job lines and 30 products. Save a copy of the file for each job, or clear the Job tab and start again.
Good To Know
Dilution vs ratio: 4 oz per gallon is about 1:32. 8 oz per gallon is 1:16. Ready-to-use products are 128 oz per gallon.
Coverage: how many square feet one gallon of mix covers. It varies with soil and carpet, so adjust it once you see your real use.
Passes: use 2 for heavy soil or a second treatment, like pet enzyme on a bad spot.
Always follow the product label for dilution, dwell time and safety. Never mix different chemicals together.
Share box: the "Share with other EasyWorkTools tools" box on the Dashboard lists the numbers this file gives to or gets from the other Carpet Cleaning tools. Copy them by hand. The labels match exactly, so it's clear where each one goes.
